Elin Howe teaches cultural history and theory in the fine arts programs of the TAFE sector. Trained originally as a visual artist, her focus shifted to a theoretical practice after mid-life education.
The intersection of art practice, contemporary history and theory has occupied her professional attention for the past decade, informing both curatorial work and writing.
Recent curatorial work includes Something to write home about, a touring exhibition from Sir Hermann Black Gallery examining the impact of growing up in regional NSW on the work of four artists; and Flipside, a satellite show accompanying Central Street Live at the Penrith Regional Gallery contrasting the work of two women artists of different generations working as the postmodern cultural wave started to break in Sydney during the 1960s.
